SAY CHEESE ● KHONDKER NASIF AKHTER

Wedding photographers are often the MVP of weddings, snapping every precious moment of your big day and encapsulating them in a tangible form, to be cherished for the rest of your life and beyond. From a quick snap of your smile when you see your loved ones to a shot of your favorite relatives dolled up and grouped together striking a pose for the 100th picture, each moment is carefully picked, framed and given life to by these photographers. How it all Started: When I was 13-14 years old, I had a lot of interest in taking photos. The photos I took of family & friends were appreciated by everyone. In 2009, while I was completing my A Levels, my Aunt gifted me a DSLR. This gift totally changed my life. I was thrilled and my interest in photography grew stronger. The following months I continued exploring landscape, lifestyle and street photography in different parts of the country. In August 2010, one of my cousin was getting married and I took some photos as I was excited having the new DSLR. After the wedding, I uploaded the photos of Facebook & tagged my cousin. Seeing the photos, one of my cousin’s friend inquired about me and offered me to cover her Engagement in February 2011.              I intuitively said yes. I covered her engagement and delighted with the pictures she asked me to cover her wedding in June. This is how it all started.

Most enjoyable part about work: The best part of this work is meeting so many new people and getting the chance to capture their special day and storing the memories forever. By taking photos at their wedding, you are not only becoming friends with them, you are becoming a part of their life. When someone will see their wedding photos 20 years from now, they will at least for once remember you for capturing those golden moments.

Competitive Advantage: Covering weddings might sound a very easy task but actually when you are doing it professionally and covering 400-500 weddings a year; it becomes extremely difficult to maintain the standard of work. What we believe is one of our strengths is ensuring quality of work at all events. We give attention to all the smallest details at the events. Weddings are once in a lifetime and it is truly our duty to make it as memorable as possible through the photos and videos we capture. We give equal importance to each and every event we cover and give it our best shot every day.

Looking Forward to: The day when our parents are ready to accept that their children might believe that their child will enjoy a career in Photography more than he or she will enjoy being a doctor. I am really looking forward to the day when our Parents will be proud to see their children purse a career in Photography/Music/Art or anything he or she wishes.

One Change to be made to the Industry: Currently we have a lot of Photography & Cinematography companies in the market working together. At times these companies see each other as rivals and take it as a competition. But I feel we all are one big family and we all should appreciate each other’s work. We, as an industry, can never move forward if we all don’t unite.

Moment closest to Heart: In February 2011, when I covered the first wedding under my company, K.Nasif Photography, my client told me one thing that I shall remember forever and this is something that motivated me to move forward at that time. She told me, “The photos are beautiful, they are exactly like the way I dreamt them to be.” These words inspired me so much that till today, almost 8 years after, whenever I think of it, it motivates me to work harder and make more dreams come true.
