Making Mothers Feel Beautiful
A blissful initiative for the present, would-be mothers that embody ‘Mère Maternity Wear’.It is the story of translating an idea into reality by two friends, Maisha Samiha and Jarin Tasnim Ona. Colors’ Elora Majumder writes how the two come up with a new venture to make mothers and would-be mothers feel comfortable and confident about their looks even when they gain few extra kilograms.
Maisha Samiha studied English for both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from BRAC University and worked at A.K. Khan & Co. for four years until she decided to pursue her hobby as a full-time career. Thus, was the birth story of Studio Picturerific. She worked unofficially for a year, e-learning techniques of baby photography before she launched it publicly. This year Studio Picturerific has become the first certified new-born photographer of Bangladesh.
She says, ‘I was already thinking about a new venture since last year. But I could not dare to start this alone. This is when the idea of Mère first materialized in my head.’
Jarin Tasnim Ona, a former student of Marketing from North South University, is a Fashion Designer and has been working as a freelance fashion designer since 2010.
“We wanted to be a full solution for mothers during pregnancy and motherhood. We met only to realize that we were sitting with the same idea and that’s how Mère was formed.”
Ornate, her first brand, was originally focused on smart and chic everyday clothes for students and working women. However, due to the demand, she eventually introduced party wears, sarees, and bridal orders. She received so many requests for maternity and nursing that it got thinking about the need for it and that’s the time when she first thought of this idea, but could not materialize it alone.
Thus, the two friends – Maisha Samiha and Jarin Tasnim Ona – merged to build a joint venture.
The start-up
Everyone wants to look stylish, even if/when they are overweight and these two friends realized all this in good time because with their ingenious idea of a proper maternity store, Mère, they offered pregnant women of all sizes and shapes space and freedom to feel beautiful again.
All mothers go through a traumatic phase when their appearance and shape change during pregnancy. They feel very down thinking that they would not look their best and also suffer seeing people looking as dapper as possible. Thus, this store is a solution to addressing all such downside feelings of pregnant mothers.
The possessions
The store offers a variety of attires. This brand ensures that the mothers look their best, all the way through their gestation period and beyond.
They have endearing nursing tops, dresses, maternity jeans, and colorful pant styled leggings. Nursing seems to be one of the greatest hindrances to selecting clothes during the post-maternity period, and Mère provides all kinds of wearable solutions for the new mothers.
What’s in the name?
Mère meaning mother in French is the first of its kind which promises to be a modern-day wardrobe solution for both mothers and expecting mothers.
Jarin Tasnim Ona says, “We wanted to be a full solution for mothers during pregnancy and motherhood. We met only to realize that we were sitting with the same idea and that’s how Mère was formed.”
