Luxe Living

With over 15 international designer furnishings items under one roof, Penthouse Livings Limited offers luxury furniture to suit the contemporary taste. A concern of Meghna Executive Holdings, renowned for introducing luxury brands such as BMW, Kohler, KIA Motors and Apple to Bangladesh, Penthouse Livings true to its name has introduced luxury furniture line to discerning customers, writes Kaishary Islam.

Visiting the Penthouse showroom at Banani for the event Canapé and Conversation on the last event evening of leap year we had been introduced to a few of their signature pieces at the store and had a chat about their journey under the soft golden glow of the voluminous bejeweled chandeliers.

When asked about what inspired Penthouse Livings to bring to Bangladesh top furniture brands such as Christopher Guy, Caraole, Eichholtz, Jonathan Adler, Michael Aram, ANNA, or Mackenzie Child, Shamsul Arefin, the operating director explains, ‘It was all about bringing luxury to people’s home. When we saw our clients sought out opulent luxury living in terms of furnishing and home decor, we noticed that there is hardly any presence of leading global brands to cater to this market. With a fast-growing economy and an increase in the purchasing power of the people, we saw an opportunity and we started our journey with bringing designer luxury furniture for the discerning customers. We wanted make best of brands available for our clientele. Perhaps the most important of all is to give them a peace of mind in terms of originality, as we are a licensed partner of all these renowned brands.”

The store, encompassing over 8500 sq feet and 4 floors, accommodates few of the most renowned luxury lifestyle brands from the USA and Europe. You won’t miss eye-pleasing American  Caracole, best known for their classic to modern furniture design with their unique material and finishes or the British luxury design furniture line Christopher Guy, which is all about luxe.

Starting from elegant porcelain tableware to bisque plush chaise lounge dexterously laid out with handwrought silver mirror hanging atop the wall, customers walking into the store would definitely want Penhouse Livings to adorn their next dream house. And that is exactly what this retail brand has been trying to achieve. Apart from bringing these luxury home furnishings, they also provide an interior decor service where the in-house architects visit the homes of their clients and offer to redesign and decorate with their curated pieces from the store. We talked to one of their architects, Israt Jahan Ritu, about this customized service. “Working with these premium brands, we know it can get overwhelming with so many options. Thus, we layout and design every corner of the showroom in such way that people can come in and just picture a whole room, without trying to mix and match from different catalogs. We also offer consultations and suggestions to accentuate every article of the room and also work with the client’s architect to provide the best results for our customers.”

Products change out every six months at Penthouse Livings, and they also have the option of preordering collections from their listed brands. Even though they offer strictly luxury brands, they have furniture lines that can be labeled as ‘affordable’ luxuries, at the same time they have premium brands also. They have an entire floor solely dedicated to Christopher Guy, which is gaining popularity among the customers.

All in all, there is no doubt that Penthouse Livings is one of the first to enter this niche market and it seems that they have quite successfully created a customer base. Each client has to make an appointment with them before any purchase so that they have a curated and personalized shopping experience. This puts them at ease as it can often be daunting to design the dream house, and professional help from Penthouse Livings does indeed make the journey smoother. But even if you do not intend to purchase, Penthouse Livings welcomes you to the concept of living luxuriously over a cup of North End coffee as Israt added with a smile.
