All Eyes on Miss Bangladesh

Miss World Bangladesh 2018, Jannatul Ferdous Oishee has been the talk of the town for quite a while. She has skilfully pulled off a persona that is calm, collected and possessing a commendable level of emotional intelligence on screen. But who is she off-screen and what are the things that fan her flames? Persa Sanjana Hussain listens as she gives us a peek into her world

With the aura of a cute girl-next-door and confidence of a power-packed lady quick to her feet, Oishee often comes off as a mature 18 year old who won Miss World Bangladesh 2018 and deserved it in all its glory but to her family she is still the little kid who grew up gracefully.

“They still get surprised when they see me talking and taking responsibility on screen with maturity because to them I am still a little girl. In fact they keep asking me when and how I learnt all these,” she says.

Well, this little girl not only competed with 30,000 beautiful women and won but represented our country to the whole world to create history. The official Facebook page of Miss World posted about the liberation war of Bangladesh 1971 and it was through this powerful woman that so many people got a glimpse of this part of our history that we hold so close to our heart.
She insists that culture is one of the richest bit of our country and she has always tried her level best to bring it in front of the world.

“We can’t afford our beautiful culture to lose its way before it is presented in front of the whole world; before it is given a chance to steal the spotlight it deserves.” She tells us that she is more than glad to win the title of Miss Bangladesh and even more to make so many people I love proud but the fact that I get to represent my country is what really takes up the most precious place in my heart.
Oishee says, “I have always wanted to be a part of the media, but honestly winning this has really redefined my dreams and self-awareness. I am overwhelmed but all the more to work harder.”

“Dreams are inherently big in nature; and I believe a person is as big as his/her dream,” Oishee claims with subtle confidence. She exclaims that limiting herself to small dreams is something that she will never do. She promises that the next few years will bring more determination, hard work and experimentation on her part.

She adds, “I have a lot left to do and prove for myself and for what I believe in. I am sure that there will be barriers but I hope to surf the waves with confidence and enjoy the ride while it lasts!”Currently, besides working on a few media projects, Oishee is simultaneously planning to build a foundation for autistic children.
Oishee’s warm smile firmly advocated her opinion of being an extrovert from childhood. She claimed that she loves meeting new people and talking to them. When asked, she said that being one of them, she feels strongly for the young women in our society.

“You see, it is easy for people to dismiss your dreams as being ridiculously unachievable. As a matter of fact countless people would tell you that but it is up to you to feed the fire and to keep it alive. That at the end of the day will play the most significant role in getting ahead,” says the diva with a glint of rebellion in her eyes.

Being the proud owner of an honorable tag and happily having made a home into the hearts of numerous fans, Oishee says that we still have a long way to go as a nation that is full of spirit and courage. “We need to lift each other up more often and have respect for everyone around us.”

She ends the interview expressing her gratitude to her fans and her dreams to make her own little contribution in this exhilarating world of possibilities.
