Mercantile Bank reappoints Morshed Alam as Chairman

Mercantile Bank Limited (MBL) reappoints veteran business icon Morshed Alam MP as the Chairman of the Bank. He is the founder Chairman of Bengal Group, a Commercially Important Person (CIP) for several fiscal years and has won many awards and recognition for his achievements in business. Born on 29th March 1950 to parents late Haji Md. Idris Mia and Tahera Begum in Nohakhali, he is a self-made business icon and started his business by establishing a light engineering (LE) unit in 1969 which was based in a rented area in Old Dhaka. Since then the company has become renowned for its quality products across the globe, receiving export trophies and being recognized as a leader in plastic goods. Morshed Alam is involved in Financial Services, Export-oriented Textiles and Apparel Industry, real estate and construction materials, hotel and resorts and many other businesses and industries in the country.
Alam also involved in the Channel RTV as its Chairman and declared Commercially Important Person(CIP) for the year 1996–1997, 1999–2000, 2008–2009 & 2010-2011 (Export), Prime Minister’s National Export Trophy (Gold), 2013–2014, 2012–2013, 2006–2007, 2000-2001, Prime Minister’s National Export Trophy (Silver), 2013–2014, 2012–2013, 2010–2011, 2009-2010, Prime Minister’s National Export Trophy (Bronze), 2010-2011 and Best Enterprise Award 2007, by DHL and The Daily Star in his credits.
The philanthropist Alam established Morshed Alam High School at Nateshwor, Sonaimuri, Noakhali. He is also a life donor member of Kazi Nagar Madrasa and Bazra High School at Noakhali and Motijheel Ideal High School, Dhaka.
