Spring denim trends
We know what you are thinking — How is denim ever new? Well, it’s not, but the crazy innovative ways it manages to sneak back into our lives every season are anything but old. Who would’ve known Mom-Jeans would be a thing in 2019? But they are pretty much everywhere today. And this new spring and summer call for some fashion innovation, when denim has been on the top of all of it, writes Anisha Hassan.
Double Take on the Cargo Pants
It has surely been a while since we saw the super functional cargo pant, but now we see it in unison with denim, amplifying things further. With the functionality of a cargo pant and its numerous pockets to hold everything you ever own, combined with the beautiful blue texture of raw denim, there has not been too many of clever combinations. Best way to rock one is with a cropped top which tightens at the waist and a pair of heavy duty sneakers.
Denim in New Colors
Sure there is a black version, but there are also hot pinks and neon yellows that deserve some attention this spring. They are bright, they are bold and they are definitely a statement piece which will make you the center of attention. To highlight them further, skip the skinny jeans and go with a pair of loose dad jeans in a neon color that will exude a laid back look while making a statement. Pair it with a monochrome tee-shirt and voila you have your next statement street style outfit ready to go.
Goodbye Skinny Jeans
Skinny jeans have gone off the radar while mom and dad jeans had their little moment in the fashion world. But if you still want a pair of denim pants that will accentuate the shape of your legs, opt for the new straight cuts, which is similar to the skinny jean except, it is not as tight and loosens around the ankle. It gets better when you have a sharp blunt edge instead of a soft hem which really gives the impression of elongated legs. These go best with your best pair of high heels which further ads to the height.
Pleated Midi Skirts
Remember when short skirts were all the raise and everyone owned a pair in denim? Well, think of this as an upgrade of that, except it’s much more chic, smart and not to mention comfortable to move in. With a wide hem it helps to grab the waistline and give it a nice curve as it spreads out at the bottom with its pleats. Clean white sneakers and a pressed white shirt is what compliments such a skirt in the best way possible. This is definitely less of a rugged, but a more sophisticated and clean cut way of sporting denim.
Jumping in on the jumpsuit bandwagon
Denim and jumpsuit are two words we do not usually combine for they somewhat remind us of yellow hard hats and construction workers. However, when done right, this can be turned into one of the most fashionable outfit pieces out there. First step is to add on a belt, whether you need or not. This helps it look less of a work outfit, and more casual and outgoing. Throw on a pair of nude heels and a gold watch and watch the whole outfit come together into one of the most beautiful brunch date ensembles out there.
Why leave out the Accessories
We understand you might not want to always wear denim as a part of your outfit, but that does not mean it cannot be a part of your accessories. Mules and pumps to satchels and purses, these little accessories are like adding hints of denim in your wardrobe without going all out, yet nicely giving in to this beautiful trend.
The best part about denim is that it keeps rotating, meaning every piece you purchase to keep up with the trend is actually an investment that will come back to use every few years, of course there are twists and turns which make new trends different from the old ones, but these small changes are easily achievable with some small wardrobe tweaks here and there. So raid your closet or take a shopping trip, we are about to see a whole lot of new denim styles on the streets and you wouldn’t want to miss it.
