Nutrition Depot

Bangladesh’s fitness scene has wildly expanded in recent years and more and more companies are surfacing to promote a healthy and fit lifestyle here. A hard workout is only as effective as the quality and amount of nutritional intake one have. This is why Nutrition Depot, Asia’s leading distributor and retailer of high-quality supplements, has been officially launched in Bangladesh by Shazid Rahman, to ensure that the demand for authentic goods is met. Tunajina Islam finds out more about his journey and how he came about to pursue this vision.

A life-changing transformation story

Moving to Toronto, Canada, at the early age of 10, Shazid was struggling to adapt to the new changes. He spent his teenage years as a couch potato, playing video games and stuffing his face with all the junk food he could. Inevitably, he became overweight and very unhealthy. Not only was his health affected by his ruinous lifestyle, but his grades also suffered and was in time rejected from university. This was finally his wake up call and he knew what had to be done. He continuously pushed himself till he reached his weight loss goals. “I did really never think that losing weight was possible for me. And having done that, it built up my confidence and that was the biggest takeaway from my fitness journey. It’s confidence,” he says. This experience is what sparked his interest in fitness because he learnt that it’s not only something that makes you look good, but also builds your character. It moulds you into a stronger version of yourself.Shazid says the reason behind bringing ‘Nutrition Depot’ to Bangladesh is because he wants more people in Bangladesh to be involved in working out and benefit from it the same way he did. “It has been reported that the food supplement industry has a lot of counterfeit products and we are here to correct that by importing and distributing products directly from world class brands to our customers. Moreover, we are committed to promoting fitness lifestyle in Bangladesh by assisting our customers in achieving their fitness goals. By taking a consultative approach, we aim to provide quality education on nutrition, exercise and supplementation,” he says. Shazid also dwelt on the challenges faced as a young businessman in Bangladesh and said funding for small start-ups is probably the most crucial one. But with his two-year experience working in his family business, Shazid was confident about his new venture seeing that he had much exposure to how things operate.
Fitness is a lifestyle, not a hobby. “It’s important to have fitness as part of your everyday routine. It’s about being active, getting a sweat out and eating the right food.” But it does depend on a person on how seriously s/he is willing to take it, he adds. The key things that stimulate his passion is the pure joy in the people, whose lives have been positively affected by his expertise. Helping people attain their fitness goals while successfully growing multiple businesses that you are involved in is a satisfying feeling that you simply cannot buy.

Some fitness tips from the expert himself:

  • “The number 1 fitness tip I can give anyone is KNOW YOUR WHY – if you have compelling reasons to get fit and healthy, you will stick to it. Will power can only take you so far, but knowing why you are doing what you are doing and having a vision behind that will take you a long way.”
  • “What you can do is set a SMART goal for yourself. SMART stands for specific, measurable, achievable, results-oriented and with timeline. Most people set very vague goals like “I want to look good” or “I want to lose weight” – it’s a start but it’s not enough. Setting a smart goal will set you up for success.
  • A SMART goal for fitness would be “I want to lose 10kg of body fat by September 30, 2019” – now that’s more actionable, you can measure your progress along the way and change your course of action as needed. Once you set the goal, then write down three reasons why you want to achieve the goal and remind yourself every morning and every night of your goal and your reasons. Make it compelling. You will achieve it if you want it bad enough, if it’s a priority for you.”
