O2 Redefines Luxury
Colors magazine sat down with Musaab Chowdhury, the visionary lead designer at O2, to uncover the exquisite wedding and winter menswear collections poised to leave a lasting impression
Musaab Chowdhury, the dynamic force behind O2, is swiftly establishing himself as one of Bangladesh’s most exciting and forward-thinking designers. With his keen eye for sophisticated fabrics, impeccable silhouettes, and contemporary cuts, Mussab’s designs have become synonymous with modern luxury. Having been at the helm of O2 for the past year and a half, he continues to push boundaries, blending global trends with local craftsmanship to create truly unique pieces.
Before embarking on his journey with O2, Mussab honed his skills working for a buying house that serviced global apparel buyers. This experience laid the foundation for understanding international markets, which he seamlessly channels into his design philosophy.
Mussab draws inspiration from the iconic style of Hollywood stars—names like Robert Pattinson, Brad Pitt, Maluma,Jacob elordi, have greatly influenced his aesthetic. “Many Bangladeshi brands tend to follow local trends, but at O2, we focus on global trends, often creating looks that set the standard before the trend even fully emerges,” Mussab shares confidently. His designs reflect this commitment to innovation, where sophistication meets contemporary flair.
At O2, Mussab seamlessly merges artisanal craftsmanship with modern technology, resulting in timeless and cutting-edge creations. A perfect example of this fusion is seen in the brand’s wedding collection, where traditional zardozi work is paired with minimalist yet luxurious silhouettes, all crafted from the finest fabrics available. One standout addition to the collection is the introduction of elegant shrugs designed specifically for grooms. “Sherwanis can be heavy and uncomfortable, especially for local grooms,” Mussab explains. “The cumbersome fabrics often make them less breathable, so we’ve created buttonless shrugs with intricate needle and jari work, which can be effortlessly paired with designer panjabis.”
Beyond wedding wear, one of O2’s signature pieces is the princely coat—a modern twist on a timeless classic. Mussab proudly states, “Our prince coats are mostly monochromatic and paired with sleek formal slacks and eye-catching pocket squares. These coats ensure that a groom will look like a million-dollar deal.” The brand has also found success with its embroidered jackets and suits, showcasing delicate gold zari, stunning monochrome needlework, and a few statement tuxedos, all of which have become best-sellers.
In winter wear, O2 takes a distinct approach by focusing on sophistication rather than street style, setting the brand apart from its peers. “We aim for O2 to be remembered for its immaculate tailoring and the refined sophistication we bring to men’s attire,” Mussab states firmly. The brand’s bespoke cropped jackets and other embellished outerwear are designed to stand out. “Our limited-edition denim and velvet-leather jackets are always a triumph among our buyers, and we continue to focus on creating these standout pieces,” he adds. Many of O2’s winter collections are perfectly suited for the party season, with designs that ensure a statement-making entrance to any event.
His admiration for high-fashion houses also influences Mussab’s design sensibility. “I’m particularly drawn to the works coming out of House of Gucci,” he reveals. “Their impeccable tailoring and visionary style consistently win my heart.” This reverence for world-class craftsmanship is evident in every O2 piece, designed with precision and artistry.
While this season may have started quietly, Mussab remains optimistic. “Though business has been slow, customers are beginning to pick their chosen pieces, and we’re excited about the direction O2 is headed. We’re looking forward to a prosperous season. We are confident that our brand will continue to solidify its place in the minds of fashion-forward individuals,” he concludes with palpable enthusiasm.
Under Musaab’s leadership, O2 is poised to continue making waves, offering not just fashion but a vision—a vision where global influences meet local traditions in the most exquisite way possible.
