Bangladesh’s Jessia Islam Wins Prestigious Model Star Award at Asia Model Festival 2023
Bangladeshi supermodel Jessia Islam was awarded the coveted Model Star Award at this year’s Asia Model Festival in Seoul, South Korea.
The 2017 Miss World Bangladesh titleholder competed against contestants from seven countries to earn the honor at the Asia Model Awards 2023 ceremony, part of the glamorous festival.
Jessia, a familiar face in Bangladesh’s fashion scene, has modeled for top national brands and cemented her status before joining the Asia Model Festival. This year’s Face of Asia competition held concurrently, saw Bangladesh represented by up-and-comers Fablia Khan and B Prasad Das.
The prestigious event, organized by South Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, provides models across Asia with opportunities for global exposure and cultural exchange. Spanning Face of Asia, Asia Open Collection, and Asia Model Awards events, sponsors like L’Oréal showcase the continent’s top talents.
“Competing at this level is an incredible chance for models to gain experience and elevate Bangladesh’s profile,” said Azra Mahmood, owner of talent management agency AMTC, Bangladesh’s Asia Model Festival representative.
Azra has groomed models for global success through AMTC’s intensive training. “My goal is preparing a new generation to shine on international platforms. Jessia’s award demonstrates their immense potential.”
