Arny: A Rising Star in Fashion at World Fashion Week China 2024

Tasmit Afiyat Arny, the visionary behind Stride Fashionwear, is making headlines at World Fashion Week China 2024 with her innovative designs that blend local culture with global trends. After showcasing her work inspired by the transformative July movement in Bangladesh, Arny is set to present her collection in Miami later this month.

Arny’s collection in Shanghai was a striking representation of sustainable fashion, crafted from eco-friendly materials like Jamdani, Khadi, and Rajshahi silk. Each piece incorporated motifs from traditional rickshaw art, including a standout sari adorned with the inscription “Mother’s Blessing” and a blazer reflecting 80s rickshaw paintings.

This year’s World Fashion Week China 2024 (World Fashion Exhibition is part of it highlighting the social and environmental responsibility) focused on ‘Sustainable High Fashion’, and Arny was among the select few, representing Bangladesh alongside major brands like Armani and Louis Vuitton. Her designs paid homage to the martyrs of the July movement—featuring printed quotes and illustrations—and celebrated national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam with lines from his poem “Bidrohi” printed on her garments.

Having participated in several international events, Arny’s reputation has grown significantly. Her innovative work caught the attention of Paco de Jaimes, Founder and CEO of the World Fashion Week, who invited her to showcase her sustainable collection. This opportunity has led to a 10-year contract to promote sustainable luxury fashion, opening doors for collaborations and showcasing her work in various countries.

Arny’s journey began in 2013 when she founded Stride Fashionwear to make wearable fashion accessible. Her designs have gained recognition, including awards at international beauty competitions, and she continues to attract attention with her unique aesthetic, combining vibrant colors and experimental geometric patterns.

With a background in graphic design from the University of Dhaka, Arny’s creative vision and commitment to sustainability position her as a leading figure in the fashion industry, fostering a bridge of friendship between Bangladesh and China through her work. As she prepares for her next show in Miami, the fashion world eagerly awaits her next move.
